Create A Kaleidoscope at Purple Paisley Local Artisan Shop! Join local artist, Scott Aleshire for his two-part ceramic kaleidoscope class! This is going to be fantastic ~ again!
During Class 1 on Saturday, September 16th, participants will form their ceramic kaleidoscope under Scott’s friendly and fun instruction. Participants first will learn to wedge, slab, measure and roll the tube of the kaleidoscope. You will then cut and design your tube, and finish this class with putting the kaleidoscope ends on. After that, Scott will take your pieces to cut the eye holes and fire them in a kiln.
Create a kaleidoscope continues the following Saturday, September 23rd. In Class 2 the participants return to decorate and paint their fired tubes, do the mirror assembly, and crystal and mirror placement. During drying times you’ll enjoy chatting with Scott and learning about clay, mirror geometry and tube set up. Afterward, you’ll leave with your “pièce de résistance”, to be enjoyed for years to come!

*Each class begins at 11:00a and wraps up at roughly 2:00p.
*Cost is $85 payable at the beginning of the first class (this covers
both classes).

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Scott’s passion is kaleidoscopes. He enjoys them because of their simple design that leads to such a complex visual experience. In his opinion, kaleidoscopes have the ability to make anybody an artist. The kaleidoscope experience is highly personal and allows imagination and creativity to take over. He began his journey as a ceramic artist creating functional pottery. Recently he has applied these skills to creating kaleidoscopes. No two are the same and they serve as an expression of chaos falling into something that resembles order.
