Colored Pencil Drawing | Kentucky

Local artist Nathan Klare brings a meticulous eye for detail and a refined hand to every piece he creates. A native of Kentucky, Nathan works primarily with Prismacolor colored pencils. Through this he achieves striking realism across a wide range of subjects. Whether capturing the delicate curve of a flower petal, the texture of animal fur, or the intricate lines of historic architecture, Nathan’s work reveals both his technical precision and his deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him.
Nathan holds a degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design, and his creative versatility reflects that training. His background in design, with a particular interest in clean lines and strong visual structure, informs much of his artwork. This clarity and structure lend themselves naturally to logo design, a field in which Nathan has also found professional success. His strong sense of composition and love of defined shapes elevate his drawings. His dedication makes his drawings feel both dynamic and thoughtfully composed.
In addition to his personal artistic practice, Nathan is committed to arts education. He serves as a drawing instructor at Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center in Covington. There he shares his knowledge and techniques with students of all ages. His teaching reflects his belief that the power of art lies not only in its final product but in the process of observing, translating, and creating.
Although colored pencil is his medium of choice, Nathan’s talent extends beyond a single form. He is equally adept at working across other media. He is constantly exploring and experimenting while maintaining his signature level of detail and craftsmanship. His work is a celebration of form and realism. His drawings invite the viewer to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the intricacies of the natural and built environments.
