Who will be the Artist the Community Loves? May is a special month at Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop. It is our annual celebration of the creativity that makes our community vibrant, expressive, and uniquely connected. We invite you to participate in “Vote for Your Favorite Local Artist Month,” a joyful tradition that highlights the artists whose work fills our shop with beauty and imagination.
How to Vote for the Artist the Community Loves
Purple Paisley proudly features over 75 local artists from the Tri-State area. During May, we encourage you to walk through the shop, enjoy the wide range of artwork on display, and discover pieces that capture your attention. When you’re ready, pick up a voting slip in the front of the shop. You may vote for up to three artists. Write down their names and a short note about why their art stands out. Drop your slip in the ballot box.
Spread the Word
Share the excitement with friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Invite someone to visit with you. Post about your favorite artists online. Participation makes a difference—not only for the artists but also for the creative energy of our entire community.
Key Dates
The voting period runs from May 1 to May 31. At the start of June, we will announce this year’s community-selected winner. The winning artist will have a special display at the front of the shop for the entire month of June. They will also be featured across our social media platforms.
Celebrating Last Year’s Winner: Tara Pugh
Our 2025 winner, Tara Pugh, is a beloved fiber and mixed-media artist whose work is both joyful and deeply meaningful. Tara is known for her vibrant use of color, expressive mandala designs, and warm, welcoming teaching style. She brings creativity to life through pieces that feel both energetic and peaceful, often weaving pattern, symbolism, and emotional storytelling into each work.
Her classes—such as her Holiday Mandala Ornaments workshop—have become favorites in the community. Students consistently praise her clear instruction, gentle encouragement, and genuine passion for helping others explore their own creativity. Tara’s featured display last June drew many new admirers, and her work continues to inspire visitors of all ages.
