The Fall Leather Painting Workshop invites you to transform a thrifted accessory into a one-of-a-kind autumn creation. Join Kentucky artist Katie Widzowski for this hands-on class at Purple Paisley in Covington.
Each participant will choose a thrifted leather or pleather item to paint. Katie will provide the available pieces, painting materials, and seasonal reference images. However, participants may bring their own leather or pleather item if they prefer.
Fall leaves, pumpkins, woodland details, and warm seasonal colors can all inspire your design. You can follow one of Katie’s references or develop an idea of your own. Either way, you will leave with a finished piece that reflects your personal style.
Fall Leather Painting Workshop
Katie will begin with an overview of leather painting techniques. First, she will explain how to prepare leather and pleather for painting. She will also introduce the paints, brushes, and materials used during the workshop.
Next, Katie will demonstrate how to apply color and build a design step by step. Students can work from the provided fall references while receiving individual guidance. In addition, Katie will share practical tips for creating clear shapes, adding details, and working on an unfamiliar surface.
This workshop welcomes beginners and experienced creatives. Therefore, you do not need previous leather painting experience. Simply come ready to experiment and give a secondhand piece a colorful new life.
What Your Class Includes
Your $25 registration includes:
- A thrifted leather or pleather piece to paint
- All paints, brushes, and workshop materials
- Fall-themed reference images for inspiration
- Step-by-step instruction from Katie
- An introduction to leather painting techniques
- A completed painted piece to take home
Participants may also bring a suitable leather or pleather item from home. A handbag, wallet, belt, small accessory, or similar piece could work well. Please choose something clean and ready for painting.

Meet Artist Katie Widzowski
Katie Widzowski is a Kentucky-based painter who earned her BFA in Painting in 2015. Her artwork includes figurative compositions, still lifes, animals, and other imaginative subjects.
Katie often works with a vivid, high-chroma palette influenced by anime, pop culture, and nostalgia. Moreover, her work combines technical painting skills with playful storytelling and emotional expression.
In this class, Katie brings that creative outlook to an unexpected canvas. She will help students approach thrifted leather and pleather with confidence, curiosity, and fresh ideas.
