On Saturday March 9th join local photographer Norb Steuber for a preview of his new artwork, The Best Of Europe”. From 11am – 3pm, Norb Steuber will be onsite at Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop at 715 Scott St., Covington KY. During this event Norb will be offering a special on his 5×7 and 8×10 matted prints. So, come on in. This is a great opportunity to meet Norb, see his selection of photography, especially his new Best of Europe works. It is also a great opportunity to discuss his process and to chat about what motivates him in his artwork.
About Norb Steuber
Norb Steuber is a freelance photographer whose specialty is Natural Light Photography, including Nature, Wildlife and Travel. Natural Light Photography is very challenging. But, it is also extremely rewarding especially when one captures the beauty of a sunrise or sunset; the distinct features in a cloud; or the subtle colors of a flower.
What is Natural Light Photography?
Natural light photography refers to using only the ambient light from the sun or moon. No camera flash or other light sources are used. When Norb Steuber takes pictures he uses the natural light around him to light his subject matter.
People often take photos outside in natural light. However, a true professional does more than just point and click. Many factors go into getting a stunning natural light shot. Any given day will have different lighting based on the varying weather that cannot be controlled.
The time of day greatly impacts the end results. Understanding the differences in the effects of light at different times of the day is critical. This is because of the position of the sun relative to the picture being taken. Different colors and contrasts in images are created by the varying positions of the sun. The vibrancy and mood of a shot is also impacted by the time of day.
Another important factor is being keenly aware of the direction from which you are shooting. Your choice of direction will impact the degree of realism as well as the shadow details in the picture. By understanding direction and its interplay with the photo being taken you can select how light impacts your image. You can emphasize depth, texture and patterns; You can enhance or eliminate shadows; You can achieve 3D effects or silhouette an image.
Norb’s love of photography began 40 years ago when his wife gave him a camera as a wedding gift. They had no idea how this gift would change the course of his life. Over the years, Norb has spent his time refining his skills and learning as much as he can about photography.
His goal as a photographer is to continually improve his skills and to share his art and experience with others. He hopes that by doing so he can enhance others appreciation for the beauty of the world around them.
