The Paper Mache Pumpkin Painting Class invites artists of all ages to transform a three-dimensional pumpkin into a colorful fall creation. Join Kentucky artist Katie Widzowski at Purple Paisley on Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m.
Each student will receive a 3D paper mache pumpkin to decorate with acrylic paints. Katie will demonstrate painting techniques that help bring each pumpkin to life. Students can follow her guidance or develop a look of their own.
Paper Mache Pumpkin Painting Class
Would you like your pumpkin to look as though it came straight from the garden? Katie will show you how to mimic the colors and natural textures found on real pumpkins. You can explore shading, highlights, curved ridges, and small variations in color.
However, your pumpkin does not need to look realistic. You may prefer to paint a playful jack-o’-lantern with a silly, spooky, or mischievous expression. Additionally, you can experiment with unexpected colors and imaginative details.
Because every participant starts with the same basic form, the finished pumpkins will show plenty of individual personality. One may become a classic orange pumpkin, while another could emerge as a colorful Halloween character.
A Fall Workshop for All Ages
This fun workshop welcomes artists of all ages and experience levels. Therefore, you do not need previous painting experience to participate. Katie will offer demonstrations and helpful suggestions throughout the class.
Acrylic paint allows students to build color and add details as their designs develop. Meanwhile, the lightweight paper mache form creates an easy surface for painting. Each participant will leave with a completed seasonal decoration to enjoy throughout the fall.
This Paper Mache Pumpkin Painting Class offers a relaxed way to celebrate the season. Come with a design in mind, or let your pumpkin’s personality emerge as you paint.
Meet Your Instructor
Katie Widzowski is a Kentucky-based oil painter known for her high-chroma colors and imaginative storytelling. She earned her BFA in Painting in 2015 after studying art in Boston.
Her artwork ranges from figurative compositions to still lifes, animals, and expressive subjects. Furthermore, her love of anime, pop culture, and nostalgic imagery often influences her colorful work. Katie combines strong painting skills with a playful creative outlook, making this workshop welcoming and engaging.
