Art has always been an important aspect of Dolores’ life. Even from an early age she loved to draw and write poetry. Her recent artistic endeavors have taken her on a journey of discovery through fabrics and quilting.
Dolores uses many design and construction methods in her quilting. She finds that spontaneity and happy accidents influence many of her pieces. She strives to create fluidity in her pieces and to incorporate dimension with trapunto (1) and free flowing objects.
Her current works are intermingled with her love for Haiku and poetry. Many of her pieces are a visual interpretations of her poems. Dolores states that this is only the start of her artistic journey as she continues to experiment with new sewing techniques.
